Baby massage is a lovely way to soothe calm and enjoy time with your baby. It can also help you bond with them.
Claire Mills facilitates the group on behalf of the centre. A mum of two, Claire qualified as a Certified Infant Massage Instructor in 2011 having studied with the IAIM at St Thomas' Hospital Education Centre. Claire is a fully qualified school teacher with experience of teaching in both primary schools and FE colleges and is also a trained breastfeeding peer supporter.
Benefits of baby massage:
Baby massage enables you to communicate with your baby before he/she is able to talk, and supports you to recognise their needs more easily
Helps you become more confident handling your baby
Supports you to have a positive interaction with your baby
It can be a great way for partners, grandparents and siblings to bond with the newest addition to the family.
The techniques you learn may help your baby if they are suffering from colic, digestive issues, constipation, colds, flu, nervous stress and teething pain
Massaging your baby regularly may help them to settle and sleep well. Baby's muscles will relax, and breathing becomes deeper as massage raises levels of the 'feel-good' hormone oxytocin in both you and your baby. This helps you both feel calm and relaxed.
The cost of the course is £30 [cash only]
